Using the Internet to Your Advantage Before Refinancing

If times are getting a little tight, and you want to cut down your monthly payments, you might want to consider refinancing your car. Before you jump into the game, taking any idea someone throws your way, try using some tools you have on hand to your advantage. Your computer and the Internet can be wonderful tools for negotiating contracts and finding the best lenders available.

Thanks to the Internet, markets are very competitive for lenders. In order to obtain and retain customers, lenders have to offer the best possible options. You might find that the lender that you are already dealing with has the best possible options for car refinancing. Then again, you might find that it is better to take your business elsewhere. Research different companies on the Internet; read the fine print to see what each company offers. Ask for quotes so you can compare different lenders.

Some individuals are hesitant to request quotes from online companies because they don’t want to fill their email boxes with junk mail. If this is a concern for you, simply create an email address that you use specifically for online inquiries. That way any spam from the companies stays clear of your personal communications.

Once you have narrowed your choices down to two or three lenders, contact customer service to discuss specifics related to your situation. It’s important to always talk to a human being when you conduct business online, to avoid potential scams. Some companies offer customer service through online chats while others provide phone numbers for you to call to talk with their customer service representatives

Many people enjoy working and browsing the internet from home, and when trying to link up multiple computers, it can be tough to share the connection time. Setting up a wireless router is a great way to split the internet between several computers, so that no one has to wait for a turn on the computer. When family members need to do homework, check emails, work from home, or make purchases, it can be frustrating to have to always wait.

Setting up a home wireless network is a pretty simple process, even for those who don’t feel that they are computer savvy. Doing a little research to find out what router would be best for the needs of each family member can help save time in having to return the router after determining it isn’t working correctly. The internet connection runs through a modem, which is plugged directly into the computer and the wall. Unplugging this cable and hooking it into the router instead of the back of the computer is the next step. The router can stay hooked to a desktop computer, if desired, but for a laptop, it is easier to have the connection be completely wireless. The router will have a web address in order to install software on the computer to manage the connection. Setting up a password is a smart way to prevent unauthorized users from accessing the connection, and protect private information.

Choosing to use a wireless router at home will make internet surfing and working much easier for everyone in the home. It is an easy advancement which allows multiple computers to be online at the same time.

How the Internet has Changed the World

The Internet is the amazing advancement in technology that makes life easier and simple. Internet helps to meet people in many places in just few seconds. This has become the great medium to reach millions of people and it is useful in educating them. Internet has made the people to become computer literate as the Internet itself is very easy to understand. A person has to just sit down and type in the search engine of the World Wide Web to know any information or update that is happening around the world.

This has now become the vital source of information that is highly helpful in education. A person can find any information such as essays, blogs, books, articles, pictures, news, or any other topic. If the person is still struggling for their information, then they can email someone or set up their own web page with their findings to help others. The world has become the local place and with just a touch of button, a person can easily contact others who are on the other side of the world.

Friends and families can reunite in the social networking sites such as Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and other sites. Social sites not only help people to reunite, but also stand as a medium to educate people to fight against injustice just like what is happening now in Egypt. These sites are creating awareness  and making people create a revolution.

Internet is also a pool of many businesses and has created many job opportunities. It provides sources for business people and fun-lovers alike with resources ranging from financial organization tools to free bingo.  There are many online supermarkets and auction stores where a person can buy almost everything with just a single touch, and this has made shopping easy. Also, a person can buy a product at a relatively low cost as it is the virtual store that does not need dressing of a real shop. These are the simple examples of changes brought by the Internet.

The Effects of Social Media on the Egypt Protests

There was a real life example of exactly how influential the Internet can be when it comes to banding and pulling people together. Recently in Egypt people were unhappy with the way that the government was working. After 30 years they wanted to see a new person in power as they felt that the one that was there currently had lost touch. Instead of posting fliers and organizing protests through underground networks all the work was done completely via the Internet.

People would text, Twitter or Facebook what was going on and where the local protests would be. Quickly, one person would spread the word and call out others who were local to come join the protests or help the cause. On the Internet, they talked about their cause and what they believed they could do to fight it. Unfortunately there were many people who believed enough wasn’t being done and the riots turned from something with good intentions to something that destroyed many people’s lives and killed people.

Regardless of the situation it turned into the protests are further proof just how powerful the Internet has become over the past few years. Instead of having to do stuff by hand everything was quickly arranged in a matter of minutes through social media outlets and people were quickly there to lend their hand and support others.

Taking a look back on how many people were involved and how quickly the protests spread it is amazing to believe that simple Internet websites and communications could influence such a huge amount of people and gather such a large crowd.

Researchers have already talked about looking into exactly how Internet and social media played a role in the protests and exactly what lead to people rioting in the streets. Should research be conducted on it, it would allow governments and those that are looking to spread the message of other ideals online the ability to see exactly how powerful the Internet and social media can be.

A Closer Look at the Proposed Idea of A United States Internet Kill Switch

After Egypt fell off the map due to the government ordering the successful shut down of the Internet there was a lot of talk about developing a similar protocol in the United States. Ever since the invention of the Internet politicians have been advocating for the development of a shutdown switch for the Internet that the President and the government would have control over.

The proposed shutdown switch would be similar to what is considered the 3 a.m. wake up call. When there was a national crisis the President or the government would make a call to the Internet providers and the Internet would shut down completely.

Politicians believe that this would be able to control public outcry and widespread panic should something happen that would be of a national crisis level. However, the public does not see it as that way. The public believes that should there be a government shut off switch it could lead to other government involvement with the Internet. If they control where the Internet is on and when people can use it what is to stop them from taking down forums where freedom of speech covers what is said and typed out. Skeptics of this government switch believe that there isn’t much to distinguish this difference. They also believe that there is very little protocol for what constitutes a national crisis and under the theory any government official could feel threatened and shut down the whole Internet before panic ensues.

While the idea of a government shut off switch for the Internet might sound a bit extreme it will never go away completely in the White House. There will be politicians that advocate for it no matter how impossible it is. The whole very idea of being able to coordinate a complete shutdown of the whole nation’s computer systems as well as cellphone and PDA services is extreme and will not be a likelihood in this day and age.

Could The US Internet Be Shut Off Like Egypts?

The recent riots in Egypt have prompted many people in the United States to start up the discussion regarding government’s role with the Internet. One of the first things that Egypt did when the riots started to take place was to completely shut down the Internet. All four of Egypt’s internet service providers went completely offline. This was done at the request of the government because there were so many riots and protests being scheduled over the Internet that it requested the Internet be shut off completely in favor of national security and safety for those that are living in Egypt. This was the first time a country has ever completely fallen off the grid in terms of the world wide web. In fact, programs that monitored Internet usage around the world did not show one item coming into or out of Egypt. The Internet just did not exist there.

Within minutes of this happening in Egypt people started to quickly debate whether or not this type of situation could happen in the United States. The idea of a kill switch when it comes to the Internet is not an unknown concept. In fact, many United States politicians have asked that Congress or the House of Representatives consider developing one in case of a national emergency or crisis.

However, the idea of a kill switch for United States Internet service providers will never happen for a number of reasons. The major reason this will never happen in the United States is because the Internet is made up of thousands of internet service providers which range from tiny, local networks to major nationwide providers. It would be almost virtually impossible to coordinate an automatic kill switch that would shut everything down.

The reason the kill switch worked so well in Egypt was because the majority of those that use the Internet in Egypt use one of four service providers to get their Internet needs. This allowed the government to be able to kill the Internet with just a few quick calls.
